BeeLatch Battery Adapter

Fitted an aftermarket battery and now the stock display shows 0% and no battery bars? The adapter plugs into the bike’s battery communication connector and gives the bike the battery signal it is missing. It is built on the BeeLatch circuit board, with one hardware change and its own firmware.

The problem: a stock display with an aftermarket battery that does not communicate. Even at 100% charge it shows 0%. The blinking battery icon is an animated illustration added to a photo of the real display.
How it works

It speaks for the battery.

Many aftermarket batteries use a generic BMS that does not talk to the bike over CAN, so the stock display and controller get no battery data.

Battery signal

Sends the bike a steady battery status over CAN so it behaves as if an original battery were connected. Design goal: keep regen and wheelie control working.

Real pack voltage

A voltage divider from the battery terminals, at the controller connectors, feeds a voltage input so the adapter measures the actual pack voltage.

Plug-in harness

A breakout harness of the same connector BeeLatch uses, ending in the automotive plug that fits the battery communication connector. Power comes from a 12 V point on the bike.

Why choose it

  • The same circuit board design as BeeLatch, with one additional modification and special firmware
  • Continuous battery updates to the bike, plus a continuous voltage reading and logging
  • Same BeeDash app and signed firmware updates as BeeLatch

Read this first

  • The stock display will not show your true battery percentage. The adapter may send a fixed value, so the stock display is not a fuel gauge.
  • View real voltage in BeeDash, or use the display below
  • It does not make an unprotected battery safe. Your battery’s own BMS protects the cells
Real battery percentage

Reading your battery’s own BMS.

The stock display can only show what the adapter sends it. The real numbers live in your battery’s BMS.

ANT BMS, over Bluetooth

Many aftermarket batteries use an ANT BMS, which has its own app that talks to the battery over Bluetooth. You can already use that app for true percentage, voltage and cell data. We may also pull live data from the ANT BMS ourselves.

BeeDash may get it too

We are considering adding live BMS data over Bluetooth for ANT BMS batteries to the BeeDash app, so your real battery percentage would sit next to your ride data. The touchscreen display could show it as well.

Not promised. This is under consideration. It is not built, there is no date, and support for any specific battery is not confirmed. The adapter does not depend on it.
Also in development

A touchscreen display for the real numbers.

A color touchscreen display that shows pack voltage read directly from the CAN bus. For batteries with an ANT BMS, we plan to read the battery data directly and show it on the display. Not yet available.

Expected late November 2026 and in development. The date is a target and may change. Compatibility with specific batteries and bikes is not yet confirmed, the price is to be determined because each adapter needs a special harness breakout, and there are no preorders.
